Climate and wind
In the summer the winds at the Ionian Sea are relatively stable. Generally from June to September the winds usually blow from the northwest. Normally the wind comes around midday at the force 2 to 5 Beaufort and it dies down in the evening. In the morning a breeze may appear blowing at 1-2 Bft. from the east/southeast. In the months between October and April/May it can blow from the north or south. The mistral comes from the northwest in the months of July and August and is stronger than usual. Caution is recommended with fall winds on the leeward side of high hilly islands.
